A local utility company had previously been using Oracle Solaris for running their database and application servers. With the escalating price of continued support for the SPARC hardware and Solaris operating system, the company chose to switch to Intel servers running Linux.
Celeritas was engaged to help in the migration from Solaris SPARC hardware to HP Intel x86-64 hardware running Oracle Enterprise Linux. This included the migration of applications and data, building databases on the new platform, and overall architecture review.
Celeritas also implemented other hardware aspects of the project such as SAN configuration and cluster configuration with Oracle Enterprise Linux.
Celeritas helped the company realize over 50% reduction in costs for the hosts and operating system support.
